Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a non-ordinary state of consciousness - different than your normal waking state of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is therefore using this non-ordinary state of consciousness (or trance state) in a wholesome way as an emotional aid to support inner healing.
Trance states can spontaneously occur (like when you’re driving a route you’re familiar with and feel like you just “end up” at your location). This hyper-relaxed state can also be induced with the help of a facilitator. Under hypnosis, we’re more receptive to suggestions, so in this expanded state, we’re able to access creativity and insight.
❋ Hypnosis vs HypnotherapyHypnosis has a storied background, especially in pop culture. Using altered states of suggestibility to make someone quack like a duck, for example, is considered stage hypnosis and is for entertainment purposes.
Hypnotherapy is using hypnosis in a therapeutic sense for inner growth: hypnotherapy is gentle, mindful and consensual states of relaxation to create space in your spirit for change and understanding.
Stage hypnosis or trace for entertainment is not something I offer or have ever facilitated. I only offer hypnotherapy as a spiritual catalyst.
❋ Facilitator Expertise I’ve been a clinical, certified hypnotherapist for 10 years, working with people from all walks of life to examine subconscious belief systems, explore past lives and transform their relationship with grief.
Hypnotherapy is very similar to meditation, in that you’re focusing on your breath in order to cultivate mindfulness and inner change. Hypnotherapy can be more directive than meditation, although some people don’t discern much difference between the modalities.
I’ve guided individuals and groups in hypnotherapy for past life regression, inner child healing, communication with the dead and more. In one-on-one hypnotherapy, we work together during your experience so you personal needs are met throughout the session.
You can listen to examples of my group work in my Hypnotations recordings, available on all podcast players.
❋ Why Hypnotherapy? Most of us have questions and fears about grief, death, the dying process and what happens after death.
The first goal of hypnotherapy is to create a relaxed and expansive environment; the second goal is to allow your subconscious to guide the experience. Our subconscious, often called “the seat of the soul”, reflects a part of you not given a lot of attention in busy, daily life. From this wise, quiet place, you can grow your understanding of self as well as the world around you.
Death work IS soul work, so in that sense, utilizing natural altered states of consciousness (through breathwork) to access the “seat of your soul” can be a helpful process for some people.
❋ Hypnotherapy FAQsUnder hypnosis, you are in total control; its more like feeling the most relaxed you’ve ever been than it is the paralysis shown in the hit movie “Get Out”.
Yes, you are in a highly suggestive state, which means working with an ethical hypnotherapist is very important.
You subconscious will never bring anything to consciousness that you’re not ready to meet. In many ways, hypnotherapy is an exploration of your own imagination, and is usually very helpful. With heavier topics like death and grief, taking time to integrate the experience is important.
